ALS, 1862 January 30 : Summerville, to Jefferson Davis.

Harris writes a strong attack on Capt. J.T. Montgomery, calling him "a broken-down school-master and a drunken preacher," and saying "neither officers nor men respect him & he has no military turn whatever to palliate his offenses." The letter has endorsements written by both Jefferson Davis & Judah P. Benjamin at its bottom.
